Carlos Alberto Vazquez Sr. was born in Bronx New York and raised in Miami Florida where he lived until he was seventeen. While living in Miami, Vazquez was a member of Boy Scouts of America Troop 65 for four years. He then shipped out to Parris Island (“M” Co 3rd Bn) located in Beaufort South Carolina after enlisting in the United States Marine Corps.

He served as an Ammunition Technician, Computer Specialist, Marine Corps Recruiter and a Martial Arts Instructor. Vazquez has achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant and has served in Combat for “Operation Iraqi Freedom” and “Operation Enduring Freedom.”

He is a proud father of two boys (Carlos A. Vazquez Jr., Carlos A. Vazquez III) and is currently the webmaster for Spanish Broadcasting Systems (Public, NASDAQ:SBSA), On-Air talent/DJ for El Zol 95.7 Morning Show (El Rey de la Manana) and Founder of Quadex Media, LLC.

 

So Why Do They Call Him Sgt Papi?

Carlos is affectionately known as “Sgt Papi” due to many different factors.

  • He was a Marine Sgt at the time of the nickname
  • He is a proud Hispanic father
  • It was easier than remembering “Staff Sergeant Vazquez”
  • Some people even say he’s good looking (puhhhleeeze >:)
