Undercover Boss: A new marketing ploy or a whistle
After the Superbowl CBS took the opportunity to broadcast a pilot of “Undercover Boss” a show that follows a Top Company Executive while they go undercover in their own business to see how the company truly runs. The first episode was of COO Larry O’Donnel from Waste Management. He posed as a new hire for entry level jobs such as recycling belt sorting, port-o-john cleaning, garbage picker upper, administration dancing/running and driving in a pickup truck with a lady whom can’t go and take a break to do number 1 so resorts to improvisation when she needs to go. Now there are mixed reviews of the show but as I get to work in Corporate America, these employees got to tell their story on how hard it is to keep a job. Sure we’re in a recession and it’s stressful being unemployed however it’s also true the the “Corporate” department always manages to implement “New” and “Innovative” ways to increase the bottom dollar for the shareholder at the expense of their hardest working employees.
